On October 7, 2022, a volunteer day organized by the Mariñas-Betanzos Rural Development Association was held, with the collaboration of the Social Services area of the Abegondo City Council and the work brigade attached to the same.
The work carried out took place in the vicinity of the Cecebre dam, within the Encoro Abegondo-Cecebre Special Protection Area (ES1110004) of the Natura 2000 Network, and consisted of the collection and removal of the invasive exotic plant Robinia pseudoacacia.
A location was sought that would allow carrying out complementary actions to the work carried out from the LIFE Fluvial project.
The 8 participating volunteers were supported and advised at all times by technicians from the Biosphere Reserve, technicians from the Abegondo City Council and specialist personnel in the elimination of invasive flora.
At the end of the day, the volunteers managed to remove two bigbags of 1 m3 each of plant material from the invasive exotic species Robinia pseudoacacia, which was transferred to an authorized waste manager.
