The Mariñas-Betanzos Rural Development Association, managing body of the Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve, has once again participated in this 2022 edition of the Cambre Open Science.
This fair is a meeting between young and adult researchers who show their experiences to the public.
The participation of the Biosphere Reserve, within the framework of the LIFE Fluvial project, focused on disseminating the Red Natura 2000 spaces in its territory using a game of questions and answers aimed at the youngest. The topics discussed were “Water and river corridors”, “Nature and river corridors” and “Your Biosphere Reserve”. All participants in this game (who exceeded 300) received a gift as a reward for their effort and interest.
In parallel, two textile printing workshops were developed with motifs of native riverside trees. These workshops were complemented with explanatory talks on the importance of the conservation of these species. The influx and participation during the two days that the fair lasted (September 17 and 18) was very relevant.
Finally, the Reserve collaborated in the final awards ceremony by providing a guided tour for 25 people through the Costa de Dexo Special Conservation Area (ES1110009), a space integrated into the Natura 2000 Network.
